For most electronic mapping devices, if you type in  1 Crystal Lake Road, Groton CT 06349 you should be able to gain directions to SUBASE's main gate.

If traveling from points east or north of Connecticut along the I-95 corridor: Take I-95 south, to Connecticut Exit 86.

At the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto Route 12 and drive 2.3 miles. At the fifth stop light on Route 12, you should see the base on your left, this is Crystal Lake Road.  Turn left onto Crystal Lake, the Commercial vehicle gate and the main gate will be on the right side of Crystal Lake Road. 

If you are west and or south of Groton, CT on the I-95 corridor, the most common route is to take I-95 north into Connecticut, use exit 86 (which is a left lane exit following the Gold Star Bridge over the Thames River).  Make a right at the bottom of the ramp onto Route 12. At the fifth stop light on Route 12, you should see the base on your left, this is Crystal Lake Road.  Turn left onto Crystal Lake, the Commercial vehicle gate and the main gate will be on the right side of Crystal Lake Road. 

If traveling from points North of Hartford, Connecticut: Take Interstate 91 south into Hartford. At Exit 32, you will be taking Interstate 84 east. (I-84 Eastbound is a left hand exit. USE CAUTION). Proceed on I-84E to Route 2 south. Take Route 2 south to I-395. Take I-395 south to Exit 78 (Route 32). Follow Route 32 south into New London to I-95. Take I-95 north across the Gold Star Bridge to exit 86 (a left lane exit). At the fifth stop light on Route 12, you should see the base on your left, this is Crystal Lake Road.  Turn left onto Crystal Lake, the Commercial vehicle gate and the main gate will be on the right side of Crystal Lake Road.
