Offenders, military or civilian, shall successfully complete the American Automobile Association's Driver Improvement Program (AAA DIP) conducted by a COMNAVSAFECEN-approved instructor or other COMNAVSAFECEN approved training or lose installation driving privileges.
Note: If you take this course due to a Court Order, check with the Court to see if this course will satisfy that Court Order.
Entry-Level Traffic Safety Training (under 26)
OPNAVINST 5100.12 (series) requires that "...all military personnel under the age of 26 receive traffic safety training..."
(Note: All military personnel under 26 years of age do not have to take the AAA-DIP course above. However, the AAA-DIP course above does satisfy the "Entry Level" course, but the AAA-DIP course is not intended for this purpose. Conversely, the Entry-Level Course below does not satisfy AAA-DIP requirements).
The "Entry-Level" course can be satisfied by either:
1. Driver Awareness Safety Training (DAST) (4 hours, 1 day). Classroom instruction in traffic safety designed to establish and reinforce safe driving habits with emphasis on individual responsibility and correct response to routine and emergency driving situations. If you would like to schedule a course and there is not one shown on the above Regional AAA DIP Course Schedule, please contact your Safety Office.
