Rear Adm. Wesley McCall is a native of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he received a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. He holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He was designated a Naval Aviator in October 1992.
His operational assignments include tours with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Four, Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Two, and Navigator, USS George Washington (CVN 73). He commanded Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Six in San Diego, California. His shore assignments include instructor pilot with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Ten, helicopter operations officer with Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet; protocol officer for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; executive assistant to the Commander, Navy Installations Command; commanding officer of Naval Station Mayport; and executive assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment, and served as commander, Navy Region Southeast in April 2021 to May 2023.
McCall assumed command of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic in May 2023.
He has accumulated over 3,700 flight hours in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (four awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Meritorious Service medal (two awards), Air Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and numerous campaign and unit awards.
