Commander Omar Hair

Cmdr. Hair a native of Hometown, Charlotte, NC.  He graduated from West Charlotte High School in June 1990.  While attending Shaw University in Raleigh, NC, he enlisted in the Navy, in June 1991.  Upon completion of basic training, at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, FL, he reported to Yeoman “A” School, at Naval Training Command, Meridian, MS.

In October 2002, under the Limited Duty Officer program, he was promoted to Ensign.

His operational assignments include USS Hampton (SSN 767) as leading yeoman.  He also served aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) as personnel officer and ship’s secretary; USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) as the administrative officer.

Hair’s staff assignments include service as the administrative officer in Personnel Support Activity Pacific in Yokosuka Japan; officer-in-charge, Personnel Support Detachment Great Lakes; human resource programs officer-in-charge, for U.S. Forces-Iraq; aide-de-camp to the Commanding General, CENTCOM Joint Theater Support Contracting Command Iraq / Afghanistan; rating assignment officer, Enlisted Submarine & Nuclear Power Assignments (PERS 403); flag secretary, Commander, Navy Personnel Command; flag secretary / staff executive officer, Commander Submarine Forces; commanding officer, Navy Element and chief, personnel services division at NORAD & NORTHCOM.

Hair is currently the executive officer, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

His personal decorations include Bronze Star, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, as well as a number of campaign and service decorations.
