Captain Jeff Creighan

Captain Jeffrey Creighan, a native of Pittsburgh, PA attended the Pennsylvania State University where he graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering.  Upon graduation he reported to Pensacola, FL for Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in October 2003.  After commissioning, he remained in Pensacola for flight training and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in July 2005.  Following completion of initial training, he was ordered to Strike Fighter Squadron ONE TWO TWO (VFA-122) in Lemoore, CA for follow-on training in the F/A-18F Super Hornet.   
 

Captain Creighan began his operational flying in August 2006 with the “Black Aces” of VFA-41 in Lemoore, CA where he made three deployments onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.   Captain Creighan reported to the “Flying Eagles” of VFA-122 in November 2009 for instructor duty, where he served as the Training and Syllabus Model Manager.    
 

In September 2012 CAPT Creighan reported to CVW-9 as the Strike Operations Officer and deployed onboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.  In February 2014, he attended the Naval War College in Newport, RI where he earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. 
 

In September 2015, CAPT Creighan reported to the “Mighty Shrikes” of VFA-94 in Lemoore, CA for his Department Head tour, serving as the Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer, and Operations Officer.  He deployed onboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE and FREEDOM’S SENTINNEL.  Following his Department Head tour, CAPT Creighan reported to Navy Personnel Command (PERS-43) in Millington, TN in February 2018 where he served as the Strike Fighter and Assistant Captain Detailer.   
 

In November 2021, CAPT Creighan reported to the “Jolly Rogers” of VFA-103 as the Executive Officer and deployed onboard USS George HW Bush (CVN 77) in support of NATO Operations in the Sixth Fleet AOR.  In January 2023, he assumed command of the “Jolly Rogers” and deployed onboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) in support of Southern Seas Deployment and homeport shift.    
 

Following his command tour, in June 2024, CAPT Creighan reported to Carrier Strike Group TWO onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) as the Operations Officer and assumed the role as the Chief of Staff in May 2025. 
 

CAPT Creighan’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Strike Flight Air Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.  
 

CAPT Creighan has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours, including 40 combat missions, and more than 700 carrier landings.  He became executive officer of Naval Air Station Oceana February 19, 2026
