BMCS Aaron T. Richards

Senior Chief Petty Officer Richards was born in Frankfurt, Germany and grew up in upstate New York. After graduating high school in June 2001 he entered the U.S. Navy on 18 July 2001 and completed Basic Training and Seaman Apprenticeship Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes.
 
In October 2001, he reported to his first command, USS HAWES (FFG 53), homeported in Norfolk Va. He deployed ISO BALTOPS, Operation Smart Search 04, SSG05-2, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Active Endeavor.
 
In November 2005 he transferred to Training Support Center Hampton Roads. While stationed with TSC-HR, he deployed as an Individual Augmentee to Iraq with the Navy Provisional Detainee Battalion 4. He then separated from active duty and transferred to the Navy Reserves. In November 2009, he reported to NOSC Raleigh, NC and was assigned to MSRON 6 Security Det. 621.
 
Senior Chief Richards transferred to MSRON 12 in September 2012 where he deployed ISO Maritime Operations in the NAVCENT AOR. During this time he graduated from Wayne Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice.  
 
He reported to NOSC Anchorage, AK in 2013 where he was attached to Operational Support Unit 2299. He served as Squad Leader and Unit Career Counselor and was selected as Sailor of the Quarter for Third Quarter FY-14. Returning to active duty, he was stationed at NOSC Anchorage as a Department Head for Operations and Information Technology until 2015.
 
In October 2015 Senior Chief Richards was assigned to USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) in Virginia Beach, VA as the Deck Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. During this tour, he served in BALTOPS 2016, BATARG Deployment 2017, and UNITAS Atlantic 2019.
 
Senior Chief Richards is currently stationed at Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, NJ as the Port Operations Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer, he has served as the Department Head for Port Operations and is currently the Installation Command Senior Enlisted Leader.   
 
Senior Chief Richards’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Army Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (six awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Battle ‘E” Award, Iraqi Campaign Medal, and numerous other unit and individual awards.
