LTC Pierre Han is a native of Centreville, VA. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2002, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Infantry Branch.
Upon completion of the Infantry Officer Basic Course and Ranger School, he was assigned to the 2-87 Infantry Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, serving as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Mortar Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Air Operations officer. While assigned to 2-87, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM IV-V and VII-VIII. He later went on to command Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment.
In 2010, LTC Han designated as a Functional Area officer in the Operations Research Systems Analyst career field. He completed his graduate studies in Operations Research at George Mason University and then served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems Engineering at West Point. In 2015, he was assigned to the Army’s Human Resources Command as a Manpower Distribution Analyst and was later selected to serve as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General. Most recently, LTC Han served in NATO as an Operational Analyst in the Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, Norfolk, VA.
LTC Han assumed duties in August 2022 as the Deputy Joint Base Commander for Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medals (2); Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medals (3); Aubrey “Red” Newman Award; Combat Infantrymen Badge; Airborne Badge; Pathfinder Badge, and Ranger tab.
