Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) is a unique shore installation, which provides critical mission support to the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS), Program Executive Office Ships (PEO Ships), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), and the US Surface Navy.
Located on a barrier island approximately 100 miles north of Norfolk, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, our location is the key to your success. SCSC is co-located with NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), Marine Sciences Consortium, and the US Coast Guard as well as has partnerships with Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), Patuxent River; Naval Surface Warfare Centers (NSWCs); and the Joint Atlantic and Chesapeake Range Cooperative (JACRC).
This uniquely powerful combination of geography, airspace, combat systems, sensors, networks, and professionals allows coordinated support for missions from a low cost, shared infrastructure.
SCSC has three multi-functional facilities supporting our missions. The AEGIS Engineering and Training Complex is dedicated to support all AEGIS destroyers and cruisers. The Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) facility supports most amphibious ships and aircraft carriers. The Wallops Island Engineering Test Center (WIETC) supports Multifunction Radar (MFR) and Volume Search Radar (VSR) development, testing, and integration for the Zumwalt Class destroyers and the aircraft carrier CVN 78.
