CMDCM Nathan G. Hon enlisted in the Navy from El Paso, Texas. in 1999 and completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. and Cryptologic Technician Communications “A” School, in Pensacola, Fla. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 183 Khaki) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 195). He earned an Associate of Science in Business Administration in 2006, a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from American Intercontinental University in 2009, and a Master of Science in Leadership – Higher Education Administration from Mid-America Christian University in 2015.
Hon’s past assignments include cryptologic technician communicator aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6); SCI System Administrator, Office of Naval Intelligence, Special Intelligence Communications, Rota, Spain; Recruit Division Commander, Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.; Information Assurance Manager, Special Operations Command Central, Tampa, Fla.; Mobility Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, Strategic Communications Wing One, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Communications Watch Officer, Commander, Task Force 69, Naples, Italy.
Hon’s command tours include Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 20, Patuxent River, Md.; Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Military Entrance Processing Station Milwaukee, Wis.; Command Master Chief, Surface Combat Systems Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.; Command Master Chief, Navy Talent Acquisition Group Great Lakes, Ill.; and currently serving as Command Master Chief, Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medals (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (three wards), Joint Service Achievement Medals (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (six awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal (one award) and has served on teams receiving various other unit and service medals.
