Cmdr. Julius Dabu is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii and spend most of his childhood in Pampanga, Philippines. He joined the Navy in February 1999 and completed Seaman Apprentice Training at Service School Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. In December 2008, he was commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer Program. He hold an Associates of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College.
At sea and abroad Dabu served both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets in operational assignments with USS Obannon (DD 987) as work center supervisor, Pre-Commissioning Unit Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) as leading petty officer, USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and USS Essex (LHD 2) as ship’s boatswain, USS Boxer (LHD 4) as assistant first lieutenant, USS San Diego (LPD 22) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) as first lieutenant.
Ashore, he has served as the mobility seamanship inspector at Afloat Training Group San Diego, California, training assistant chief of staff, staff training and readiness department head for Expeditionary Strike Group Seven Detachment Sasebo, Japan. The only forward deployed staff supporting forward-deployed naval forces Ships. Served as the assistant officer in charge at Center for Surface Combat Systems Detachment West. He served as the director for Navy Training at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, before reporting as executive officer of Naval Station Great Lakes in January 2025.
Dabu’s awards include Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Good Conduct Medal (five awards) and various service and campaign awards.
