CAPTAIN BRYAN S. DAHLQUIST

Captain Bryan S. “Barbie” Dahlquist is a native of Chantilly, Virginia. He was commissioned in 2002 and designated a Naval Flight Officer (NFO) in 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Information Systems from the James Madison University and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College (USNWC). Additionally, he is a graduate of the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (CAEWWS).

Dahlquist’s operational command tour was with the VAW-113 “Black Eagles,” an E-2D Advanced Hawkeye squadron based in Point Mugu, CA. Other sea tours include the VAW-116 “Sun Kings” as a junior officer, VAW-123 “Screwtops” as Squadron Training Officer, VAW-113 “Black Eagles” as a Department Head, and Carrier Strike Group Fifteen as Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Lead. He deployed and served aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS George Washington (CVN 73), and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and other Fifth and Seventh Fleet operations.

Ashore, Dahlquist served an Individual Augmentation mission reporting to Joint Operational Task Force Iraq as the Officer-in-Charge of multiple detention facilities throughout the country in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  After returning, he served as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) for the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School - Weapons and Tactics Unit Atlantic. He is currently assigned to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division as the Military Deputy for the Air Wing Interoperability and Integration / Electronic Warfare Group.

Dahlquist assumed duties as Executive Officer of Naval Station Norfolk in February 2026. Dahlquist has logged more than 2,400 hours in the E-2C Hawkeye and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye and has accumulated 500 carrier arrested landings. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit, service and campaign awards. Additionally, he received the 2021 Leadership Award presented by Commander, U.S. Naval Air Forces for his time in command of VAW-113.
