Purpose: To provide legal advice to the Commanding Officer, Naval Station Norfolk and subordinate commands, and Transient Personnel Unit Norfolk. Composed of the following main branches: Military Justice, Administrative Separations, Investigations, Non-Judicial Punishment, and Administration. Legal assistance services to include notaries and Power of Attorneys are provided on a limited basis to Naval Station personnel. Also serves as Freedom of Information/Privacy Act Officer.

Legal Assistance

Defense: Provides advice regarding interrogations, mast, administrative separations, PEB's, and courts-martial. Assign counsel for administrative discharge boards and courts-martial.
Claims: Processes claims against the government arising out of vehicle accidents/overspray, personal property movements, Medical Care Recovery Act.
Legal Assistance: Provides advice concerning domestic matters (divorce, separations, adoptions, name changes), landlord/tenant disputes, wills and powers of attorney, consumer issues, contracts and other personal legal matters. Advice is provided to active duty, dependents, retirees and dependents.
