Commander Adrian Gray is a native of Miami, Florida. He holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration with distinction from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was commissioned in 2010 through the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program earning his Surface Warfare designation.
Commander Gray's assignments at sea include USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), first division Leading Petty Officer aboard USS Stout (DDG 55) and Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard USS Wasp (LHD 1). He served as the Department Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
Immediately following commissioning, he was detailed as the Ship's BOSUN aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) and deployed for eight months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He served as the Assistant First Lieutenant aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) and First Lieutenant aboard USS San Antonio (LPD 17) and USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78).
Commander Gray's shore assignments include a tour as Leading Petty Officer of the Weight Test and Rigging Shop at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center and as Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer of the Deck/SAR Department at Afloat Training Group Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. He served as a Department Head, Landing Craft Officer and Maritime Pre-positioning Force Officer at Assault Craft Unit Two. He also served as the TYCOM FORCE First Lieutenant at Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic (SURFLANT), and most recently as the Port Operations Officer onboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Commander Gray's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), along with various campaign, service medals and unit awards.
He assumed the responsibilities of Naval Weapons Station Yorktown's Executive Officer in August 2025.
