Founded in 1904, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) is a private non-profit charitable organization sponsored by the Department of the Navy. NMCRS operates nearly 250 offices ashore and afloat at Navy and Marine Corps bases throughout the world.
Staffed primarily by volunteers, NMCRS is funded by loan repayments and the Active Duty/Retiree Awareness and Fund Drive Campaigns held each March. Donations are also accepted throughout the year from corporations, individuals, wills and bequeaths. The JEBLC-FS office is located in building 3016, 1481 D Street, Virginia Beach VA 23459.
The mission of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is to manage, provide and administer financial, educational and other assistance to members of the Naval Services of the United States, their eligible family members and survivors in need. The Society provides needs based financial assistance to eligible recipients in the form of interest-free loans and grants as well as scholarships and interest-free loans for education. In addition, the Society offers financial counseling; budget for baby workshops and layettes; visiting nurse services volunteer training and, in partnership with Army Emergency Relief, provides assistance to Army personnel assigned to JEBLC-FS.
