Emergency Management Department

The Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Emergency Management Office (EMO) is responsible for developing and maintaining the installation EM Program and the appropriate response capabilities.  EMO provides base-wide emergency preparedness training for natural and man-made disasters, including exercise development. EMO maintains and operates the Wide Area Alert Notification System (WAAN) which includes desk top, automatic telephone notification and the installation-wide external and internal loud speakers.

Emergency Management Support

The Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Emergency Management is also engaged with incident avoidance and recovery. Support crews constantly monitor the base for gear adrift and missile hazards.

Emergency Management support also integrates with Self-Help and NAVFAC departments to prepare the base for destructive weather and coordinate recovery operations performing such tasks as issuing sand and salt to resident commands in the winter, and distributing sandbags for tropical storm preparations.
