Emergency Management Department

The Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Emergency Management Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining the Installation EM Program and the appropriate response capabilities.  He provides Base wide Emergency Preparedness Training such as Hurricane Preparedness; he works with the Training Department in Exercise Development for disasters like Earth Quakes, Tornadoes, Active Shooters and Terrorist Incidents; additionally we Maintain and Operate the Mass Warning and Notification Systems to include the Desk Top and Automatic Telephone Notification System as well as the Giant Voice/Inside Voice System.

Emergency Management Support

The Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Emergency Management Support personnel assist with disaster preparedness and recovery. We operate support crews, which constantly monitor the base for gear adrift and missile hazards. These crews are also responsible for ground maintenance actions and removing uncontained trash and garbage.

Emergency Management support crews remove downed trees and continually search for dead ones to cut down and prevent possible damage during times of high winds and destructive weather.Emergency Management support also integrates with the Self Help and NAVFAC departments preparing the base for destructive weather and coordinating associated recovery operations. Some of these functions include providing sand and salt to resident commands in the winter, and distributing sandbags for tropical storm preparations.
