Navy Region Mid-Atlantic participates in Solid Curtain

10 February 2023

From CNRMA Public Affairs

Installations across the Mid-Atlantic region will participate in exercise Solid Curtain 2023 (SC23) Feb. 13-17, to enhance the readiness of Navy security forces. We ask for your continued support to ensure that our installations remain as safe as possible during the duration of these exercises and beyond.
While there is no credible threat to the public, this exercise is a perfect opportunity for all installation personnel to practice the “see something, say something” reporting method.
Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions within local communities and to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around bases or delays
in base access next week. Area residents may also see or hear security activities associated with the exercise. Advanced coordination has taken place with local law enforcement and first responders.
Ensuring the safety and security of our sailors, civilians, and surrounding community is our top priority and requires a team effort.
Exercise SC23 is an anti-terrorism force protection exercise that is being conducted nationwide on Navy installations. The annual exercise is not in response to any specific threat, but is used to
evaluate the readiness of fleet and installation security programs.
For information about potential impacts due to the exercise, please follow our social media platforms, or contact the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic public affairs office at 757-322-2853.
